An amazing topography, natural leisure sites, economic and social activities of the population pull visitors to Mengueme, a Sub-divisional headquarter created in 2010.
The choice of Mengueme, a Sub-divisional headquarter in the Centre Region, as one of the laps of the first-ever bicycle tourism, organized five months ago, in Cameroon by the French Embassy, in partnership with the Cameroon Cycling Federation, is prove the municipality is blessed with touristic potentials.
It ranges from an amazing topography to leisure sites passing through the economic and social activities of inhabitants of the 16 villages in the council area.
The population, estimated at over 9,476 (after the 2005 general population census), depend on subsidence farming, animal rearing and fishing to put food on the table, and to send their progenies to school.
The display of foodstuffs along the Mengueme road tell of the richness of the farm harvests. Rural life is still visible here. Instead of cooking gas, wood is the source of energy.
The hospitality of the people, with the “Yimedui” and “Mvog-Mandze” as the main ethnic groups, is legendary, particularly towards strangers. The French Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E Christophe Guilhou, can attest.
Have you heard of the much-talked about Ebogo Touristic Site ? If no, then note that it’s located in the Mengueme geographical space.
Via a canoe ride or on foot, visitors are marveled by the beauty of nature here.
Choosing Mengueme for an escapade will be an opportunity to uncover the beauty of rural Cameroon.
